Lonicera periclymenum Graham Thomas - Honeysuckle

A beautiful and wonderfully fragrant cultivar of the native honeysuckle or woodbine, Lonicera periclymenum Graham Thomas is a large, very vigorous, deciduous climber, lovely growing up a tree or wall or close to a garden seat. It grows by twining, so needs suitable support if not grown up a tree or along a hedge. The leaves are mid-green, in opposite pairs among the stem. The flowers are the familiar honeysuckle shape, concentric rings of tubular flowers, opening cream-coloured, and fading to a soft buff-yellow with a strong, delicious honeysuckle fragrance; they are nectar-rich and very attractive to pollinators. Later-flowering than most honeysuckles, it flowers from July to September. Honeysuckle Graham Thomas holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
