Apple Ballyvaughan Seedling

An Irish heritage variety of cooking apple from Co. Clare, Apple Ballyvaughan Seedling produces medium-sized, firm, unevenly-shaped fruits, yellow-green with a bright pink flush and red stippling, and acid, crisp, firm flesh. Can be eaten fresh after ripening by those who like crisp, tart apples with a sweet aftertaste. It is a reliable, heavy cropper, vigorous and wind-resistant. It will also root from cuttings, making it hardy and disease-resistant, and particularly suitable for organic growing. A tip-bearer, so not suitable for trained forms; needs occasional renewal pruning. Particularly well adapted to conditions in the west.

This Irish Heritage Apple tree was originally saved and propagated by Irish Seed Savers in Scarriff, County Clare.
