Like most ramblers, it flowers magnificently in midsummer, but does not repeat. Big sprays of semi-double, rose-pink rosette flowers with only a slight scent are borne from June to August. Rambler rose Dorothy Perkins is a tough, hardy rose, but rather prone to mildew, especially when trained on a wall; it needs good, fertile moist soil. It is particularly good on pergolas or trained up a tree with a late-flowering viticella-type clematis which will flower when the rose has gone over.
