Yellowish-green flowers appear in spring, followed by brown, almost cone-like, ornamental fruits. Oak-leaved hornbeam is a deep-rooting, stable tree which is particularly good on damp, heavy soil, and a wonderful tree for a park or large garden with these conditions.
